So, what are the rules when it comes to lighting your home? Are bedside lights only for bedrooms? Chandeliers for lounges and lounges alone? And what about the hallway – should lighting be minimal – just chosen to do its job, rather than being stylish and aesthetically stunning?
With so much to explain, we thought it best that we simply created a collection of lighting for every room – and here are some of the highlights…
Up in the kids’ room, there’s a lot to consider – their age, colour scheme, favourite book and room theme. Thankfully, we’ve done plenty of leg work for you – and put together a collection for every age, and all tastes – from dogs in clogs, to fairyland fabric, onto maps, monkeys and musical instruments, you’ll find it all, right here.
As for the kitchen, the heart of the home, lighting has changed (just like the role of the kitchen itself). Now, there are kids doing their homework on the breakfast bar, families relaxing on the sofa and, of course, meals being cooked and drinks being poured. For this, you need a clever mix between task and functional lighting.
Finally there’s the hallway, where you should welcome guests in by wrapping them in warm light (this is where you set the tone for the home beyond – so why not make a statement?).
